Journey's Respite

Dear Readers,
The Great Migration is at an end. We had an exceedingly difficult time deciding which city we were going to call home and then finding that place. My university is in southern Oregon in a picturesque little town named Ashland. It is located right over the California border and is nestled between Northern California's rolling hills and Oregon's mountains. Its most defining feature is the Shakespearean festival that is held there annually. The event has inspired the feel of the town and absorbed into its character. Flower shops bear Juliet's name and inns invoke the Bard's title. I will have to take you on a tour of it soon. I was instantly in love, but soon found that it was  financially impossible to live in this charming cultural oasis.
We had to settle for living near by. At first I was heartbroken, after all, it was the personality of Ashland that had brought me to Oregon in the first place. However, after spending the last two weeks in our new home, Medford, I am happy to report that we are delighted by our little city. It is not entwined in charm like Ashland or the site of a cultural revolution like Portland, but it is everything we need. We had to do our house-hunting from three hours way in Eugene and we were exceedingly lucky to find our new house. When we were wandering lost through the streets of a then unknown city we weren't thinking about location or convenience, just desperately hoping for somewhere half way decent so we could unpack our lives from our car and have somewhere to grow roots. It turns out we blindly found the perfect location, nothing in the city is more then a five minutes away. Medford's glorious new library is only a few blocks away, which for a bibliophile such as myself is of life sustaining importance, and for my self-proclaimed nerd, the game store is less than a mile away; he is very happy. For now, the house is rather empty, and we are slowly making it ours. We fall more in love with our new nook everyday. The house is evolving, and changes daily, but I have numerous parties pestering me for pictures. So, here it is.
Love,
The Hedgehog

This is where one finds the Fox. He tends to create semicircles of productivity.

  2. I like how your roof bends over the door. That little detail adds some character you wouldn't normally see.

  3. Your house is so cute! What a small world. My cousin and his parents live there. When we visited them oh 10 years ago there was a great donut shop. I wonder if it is still there.
